You Are All Aware That This Exists, Yes?

Snooki wrote a fuckin’ novel. I haven’t even written a novel, but then again, I haven’t been coldcocked on MTV, either. I have never watched Jersey Shore, but I did flip through a few pages of this at Wal-Mart last night (is there a purer American leisure activity than reading a Snooki novel at Wal-Mart?), and trust me, this shit is hilarious. I don’t know how much was legitimately written by her vs. ghostwritten, but the point is, the only thing that kept me from buying this right fucking then was that I don’t have a 17 bucks I can spare at the moment. Some trainwrecks are too precious to ignore.

That is the tragedy of my current life situation: too broke to buy a goddamn Snooki novel.

How can people be annoyed by that? I think it’s fun.

One of my follower/ees posted a thing a little bit ago about her frustrations with followers and whatnot, and she mentioned how she hated Tumblr crushes, and how she’d unfollowed people recently for posting them. I checked, and sure enough, I was one of the people she unfollowed.

With all of the different stuff I post (stories, diary posts, images, movie reviews, smutty jokes, jokes and assorted weirdness), you’d think that somebody could tolerate the occasional crush post, but apparently that shit is beyond the pale. I find it amusing, also, that in a post about unfollowing people for stupid and petty reasons, she mentions that she unfollowed some people for stupid and petty reasons.

Some folks just aren’t cut out for this line of work circle jerk.

I don’t know where the hate comes from.  Tumblr crushes are just a silly little thing.  I understand that it can get annoying when people post them with no text, which is why I usually make a little joke about them (I only post them if I notice something funny or unusual), or when they are posted too damn often. They fill space when you can’t think of anything else to post, and they’re a quick way to let 9 people know that they are your favorite Tumblists.

I’m not personally in a lot of them, and that’s fine.  My blog is an acquired taste and is frequently too inside-jokey or just plain weird (BLOGTRONIC, for instance) for people to actively “like”.  That’s fine.  Big deal.  I know a lot of people like me even if they are not officially “crushing” on me.  Also, yes, people tend to like blogs written by people that they are attracted to.  Why else do you think all the ladies in my list are, well, ladies?

Again, I don’t have a problem with any of this.  It’s just a fun, silly thing, and if you do have a big problem with it, I suggest that you are perhaps taking Tumblr too seriously.  Tumblr will never be “serious” as long as people are posting a different part of their body every other day.
